Linguist Supervisor

Overview

SOSi is seeking a Linguist Supervisor to join our team, overseeing the work of Linguists in support of our customer.

Essential Duties

  • Be the main liaison between SOSi Headquarters Program Management Office (PMO), SOSi personnel, and government officials
  • Serve as SOSi’s authorized representative for the technical and administrative performance of all services required by the Field Division, District, Regional, or post of duty office they support
  • Act as the single point of contact (POC) for the assigned location through which all government engagement and communications shall be conducted
  • Ensure satisfactory fulfillment of all the functions and duties described for Analytic Linguists
  • Effectively and efficiently plan and organize various duties
  • Assign Linguists to:
    • Monitor real-time oral telecommunications and/or written communication intercepts
    • Transcribe, translate, and validate completed work
  • Be accountable for daily work assignments and product delivery
  • Ensure implementation and full operational status of Contractor’s QC Plan
  • Verify completion of Linguist work assignments prior to end of shift
  • Oversee daily activity to ensure proper execution of all tasks
  • Maintain records of:
    • Work production
    • Evidence control
    • Any other required administrative records
  • Prepare and present a quarterly schedule to SOSi, COR, or designee detailing:
    • Adequate manpower coverage for each shift for the forthcoming quarter
  • Maintain time and attendance records for all Contract personnel
  • Monitor, record, translate, transcribe, and synopsize content of real-time oral and/or written communications
  • Transcribe from storage media including:
    • Audio cassettes
    • Video cassettes
    • Other digital media
    • Task performed in both the required foreign language and English
  • Prepare typed English translations and/or transcriptions from other source media
  • Perform QC review(s) of completed work
  • Validate the accuracy of translations and transcriptions
  • Appear in court when subpoenaed to testify
  • Interpret oral and/or written conversations, concurrently and/or simultaneously

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Spanish from an English-speaking college or university, OR
    • Bachelor’s degree with a major in English from a Spanish-speaking college or university
    • OR in lieu of degree, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience
  • Experience (Supervisory):

    • At least three (3) years demonstrating:
      • Oral and written communication skills
      • Organizational skills
      • Administrative management skills
    • Proven ability to:
      • Effectively manage people and resources
      • Satisfy project objectives
      • Ensure completion of assigned tasks

  • Language Proficiency:

    • Exceptional command of the English language, with ability to deliver clear, concise verbal and written communication
    • Native or near-native ability to:
      • Listen and comprehend living in a foreign language
      • Follow spoken language (verbal) and written text accurately
      • Understand slang and colloquial expressions
    • English verbal fluency that allows paraphrasing or explanation without hindrance necessary
  • Administrative Skills:

    • Ability to work well under pressure to meet specific deadlines
    • Minimum 40 WPM typing/word processing and managerial presentation skills

Additional Information

Work Environment

  • Normal office working conditions
  • Requires periods of non-traditional hours, including:
    • Consecutive nights and weekends when necessary
  • May require ability to lift/move objects or packages weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Up to 25% travel, in support of assigned tasks and responsibilities

Clearance Requirement: Tier II Compensation: USD $59,644 – $123,877 (yearly)
