Job Title: Linux Automation Engineer – Banking Client Exp Required

Location: London (Hybrid – 2-3 days per week onsite)

Duration: 12 Months+

Rate: 500 GBP/Day Inside IR35

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, optimise, and extend a bespoke Perl and Korn Shell codebase, ensuring reliability and long-term maintainability.
  • Design and develop object-oriented Perl solutions using Moose and Moo frameworks, applying best practices for scalable, modular architecture.
  • Build and support web applications and asynchronous job queues using the Mojolicious framework and Minion job queue system.
  • Write and manage SQL — including schemas, triggers, and views — across PostgreSQL and SQLite databases.
  • Manage and contribute to an existing Python codebase, handling maintenance, bug fixes, and incremental improvements as required.
  • Work within Git-based version control workflows and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, supporting reliable and repeatable build and deployment processes.
  • Administer RHEL-based Linux systems, including systemd service management, hardware troubleshooting, and OS-level configuration.
  • Support and troubleshoot enterprise storage environments, including NetApp and SAN technologies.
  • Diagnose and resolve TCP/IP and network issues using standard Linux troubleshooting tools.
  • Support authentication and identity workflows involving Kerberos and SPNEGO-based mechanisms, including integration and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
  • Liaise directly with hardware engineers and production engineers to triage, escalate, and resolve issues, acting as a clear technical point of contact across teams.
