Barnes Law is a boutique commercial disputes firm. We act for businesses and high-net-worth individuals on complex, high-value commercial litigation matters and we're growing.
We're looking for a Litigation Paralegal who's ready to hit the ground running. This isn't a passive role. You'll be working directly alongside our solicitors on live matters from day one, with real responsibility and a genuine expectation that you can think on your feet.
The Role
You'll be involved across all stages of commercial dispute proceedings, from pre-action protocol right through to trial and enforcement. Day to day, you can expect to be:
- Drafting court documents, witness statements, and correspondence
- Conducting legal research under CPR and advising on procedural points
- Managing disclosure exercises and document review
- Preparing court and trial bundles to exacting standards
- Liaising with clients, counsel, and the courts
- Monitoring case management timetables and directions orders
- Supporting fee earners at every stage of litigation

What We're Looking For
- Minimum one year's experience in a litigation department at a law firm - this is a firm requirement
- Solid working knowledge of CPR and court processes in England and Wales
- Experience with pre-action protocols, disclosure, and court bundles
- Strong written English and the ability to draft clearly without supervision
- Commercial awareness and the ability to grasp complex facts quickly
- Genuine proactivity — you spot problems before they arise
- A paralegal qualification, law degree, or equivalent experience
- Real commitment to building a career in commercial litigation at a boutique firm
This role is for someone who sees paralegal work as a natural career progression.
The Process
We take hiring seriously. Shortlisted candidates will go through a two-stage interview process, which will include written and/or practical testing.
