Our Litigation, Regulatory and Public Law Team
Our Litigation, Regulatory and Public Law team is a market leader in the health, social care, central and local government sectors and continues to grow its profile and client base in the financial services, commercial, and higher education sectors. The team sits within the Litigation, Advisory & Regulatory department which deals with substantial commercial, regulatory and public law disputes.
The team acts for public bodies such as local authorities, health trusts, regulators, oversight bodies, statutory bodies, higher education institutions and corporates including private and charity sector providers of public services.
In joining our growing team, you will have the opportunity to work for a number of the firm's key strategic clients and a range of partner leads and colleagues, across several of the firm's key sectors, whilst managing your own caseload. Given the nature of our clients, the cases on which we work regularly touch on live socio-economic or political issues whether that be within local government, health, higher education or financial services; often raising novel issues. We find that our work is highly rewarding as a result. We have strong and trusted partnerships with the clients we work with who genuinely value our support and tell us so.

The Role
We are recruiting a NQ Solicitor to join our busy and diverse litigation, regulatory and public law team working for a range of public and private sector clients across all of our sectors. The role will focus on a mix of regulatory public law and civil litigation.
The successful candidate will be involved in:
- Advising regulatory bodies, across sectors including financial services, professional discipline and other sector and economic regulators, on the use of their regulatory powers, including handling appeals and public law challenges.
- Advising ombuds schemes on decision-making and handling complaints and challenges.
- Advising public services providers, commissioners and regulators on their decision-making, including the risk of judicial review.
- Handling judicial review claims in the High Court and appellate courts.
- Supporting clients in responding to regulatory interventions.
- Supporting clients engaging with public inquiries, including advice on disclosure obligations and responding to r9 requests/s21 notices.
- Advising all our clients on commercial disputes including claims in contract, tort and for fraud.
- Advising on corporate litigation including shareholder and partnership disputes, claims for breach of warranty and joint venture disputes.

What We Are Looking For From You
The successful applicant will possess the following skills, which are key to the role:
- Previous experience of acting for or an interest in public bodies.
- Experience across some of all of the work types identified above.
- Well organised with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication skills, with a professional approach to work.
- Confidence in working directly with clients and colleagues in other teams.
- An interest in business development, and developing networking and client management skills.
- An ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
- A team player with a keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues at junior and senior levels.
- A practical and commercial, "can do" approach to problem solving.
