Location & Salary
- Locations:
- United Kingdom (Oxfordshire/Cotswolds, ~1.5h from London max)
- Southern France (Languedoc Region)
- Permanent UK base from 2027 onwards
- Salary: £40,000–£45,000 gross per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
- Accommodation: Private bedroom and bathroom provided in the UK & France + separate living quarters from 2027
- Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced, trustworthy, and warm-natured Live-in Housekeeper to support a Principal within a well-organised private household. This role offers an opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high housekeeping standards and enjoys working in a calm, organised environment.
The successful candidate will travel between two private residences (UK and France) throughout 2026 before the household becomes permanently based in the UK from 2027.

The Household
The Principal lives alone with a Wire-Haired Dachshund and divides time between a 4–5 bedroom rural home in Oxfordshire/Cotswolds and a similar private residence in Languedoc, Southern France. Occasional UK/international travel may also be required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Housekeeping
- Full 4–5 bedroom, 4-bathroom property cleaning to exceptional standards
- Laundry, ironing, and linen care
- Maintain immaculate home condition at all times
- Daily household organisation
- Independent cleaning or collaboration with another housekeeper as needed
Household Support
- Prepare simple, healthy meals or support meal prep
- Grocery shopping & errands (with or without the Principal)
- Post management (receiving/sorting)
- Guest hospitality when required
- Tradespeople liaison (supervision, scheduling, communication)
- Household security awareness (reporting concerns)
- Assisting with packing and travel prep as needed
Dog Care
- Walk the Wire-Haired Dachshund when requested
- Join countryside walks with dog & Principal occasionally
- Feed and care for dog as instructed
Working Hours & Leave
- 40 hours/week, ~8–10 hours/day
- Minimum 1-hour daily break
- 2 vacation days/week (flexible adjusts weekends hourly)
- Occasional flexibility for travel, packing, or shift adjustments (compensated via extra time off)
- Accordance with UK employment law for annual leave & bank holidays

Accommodation Provided
- Private bedroom & bathroom in UK/France while travelling with Principal (from 2027: separate living quarters dedicated to live-in Housekeeper only; no dependants without Principal’s prior written agreement)

Requirements
Essential:
✔ 2–3 years’ live-in housekeeping experience in a private household ✔ Exceptional attention to detail and high housekeeping standards ✔ Ability to adapt easily to different homes and routines ✔ Comfortable preparing simple, healthy meals ✔ Independent working & initiative with organisational skills ✔ Clean, full driving licence & valid passport ✔ Fluent English ✔ Directly verifiable references from previous Principals (telephone references required)
Highly Advantageous:
✔ Proficiency in Spanish ✔ Comfort with occasional UK/international travel beyond primary schedule
