The Opportunity

IMG Studios is seeking a permanent Live Operations Supervisor to join its technical broadcast team. This is a highly rewarding role where you’ll work with prestigious clients such as Formula 1, UEFA, CBS, and Wimbledon, ensuring smooth technical execution for live events.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee smooth and high-quality delivery of all Live Operations at IMG Studios.
  • Supervise MCR operators, engineers, and freelance staff to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Coordinate closely with the Live Technical Operations Manager to maintain operational excellence.
  • Serve as the primary point of reference for daily Live Operations queries and decision-making.

Client Collaboration & Technical Delivery

  • Liaise with Delivery Operations, Commercial, and Engineering teams to meet and exceed client needs across pre-, live, and post-event phases.
  • Monitor technical and operational performance to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions.
  • Ensure Live Operations and technical facilities consistently meet client expectations.
  • Document and communicate procedural improvements and operational issues.

Risk Management & Reporting

  • Identify potential technical/operational risks and initiate preventative actions.
  • Create and distribute incident reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster a knowledge-sharing culture to ensure continuous team competence.

Continuous Improvement & Client Advocacy

  • Act as an approachable expert on all Live Operations aspects for both IMG Studios and clients.
  • Recommend operational/technical enhancements to optimise Live Operations efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience

Technical Expertise

  • Extensive experience in broadcast technical roles, preferably in engineering, live gallery, transmission, or television production.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude with a technical mindset.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • TV production processes
    • Post-production workflows
    • Broadcast-grade equipment and workflows
  • Proficient in client relationship management with a proven commercially successful track record.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Supervisory experience in managing teams and client relations.
  • Excellent communication skills (clear writing, presentations, client interactions).
  • Ability to train and guide junior staff while upholding operational standards.

Professional Experience

  • Live television environment experience (preferably in broadcast, technical operations, or freelance capacities).
  • Experience working with high-profile clients, including sports/entertainment federations.

Working Conditions

  • Permanent position based at Stockley Park, Uxbridge.
  • Standard hours: 9:00 – 17:00 (Mon-Fri), with shift patterns included as per contractual demands.
  • Travel required to:
    • Other IMG locations
    • Client sites and events
    • Industry conferences and on-site production (for entire event durations if necessary).
  • Unsocial hours and weekend work may apply based on licensed event schedules.
