Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
We are looking for a Livestock Administrator to join our busy Livestock Procurement Team - this is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave for a period of 9 months to cover Maternity leave. There is also a possibility the contract could be extended, depending on the return date of the current post holder. Working Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week.
Role Purpose
To support the site livestock procurement team by providing accurate and timely administration, coordination and reporting. Engage positively and professionally with livestock suppliers and ensure timely responses to all queries engaging with site and livestock teams as required.
Role Responsibilities
- Supplier Queries: First point of contact for all producer enquiries, maintaining positive relationships with our livestock farmers (producers), hauliers and our cattle buyers.
- Livestock Bookings: Process livestock bookings and liaising with producers and livestock buyers to ensure correct and timely delivery of cattle to plant.
- Livestock Pricing: Maintain accurate records of livestock pricing in accordance with supplier agreements and ensure pricing is correct for livestock payments.
- Livestock Compliance: Cross referencing of farm assurance, provenance and specification to ensure cattle are entered into the correct batches.
- Reporting & Data Maintenance: Prepare reports and maintain data accuracy (systems / databases) for reporting as well as electronic and hard copy record keeping. Collate and report on information in relation to procurement activities highlighting exceptions.
- General Administration: Support the livestock team in all aspects of administration and supplier engagement as required.
- Administrative Excellence: Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of office administration and process.
- Crossfunctional Collaboration: Internal engagement with livestock teams and site teams to ensure alignment. Support the site team in preparing information as required for audits, livestock compliance and other elements of livestock administration.
- People and Culture: Contribute positively to team culture and uphold company values in all interactions. Engage proactively in the enhancing performance process and provide support to assist with training team members as required.

- Previous administration experience with excellent IT skills
- Experience with livestock suppliers or farmers beneficial
- Professional and positive communication and relationship building
- Attention to detail
