Livestock Lairage Operative
Lairage Team Member – Dunbia West Devon
We are seeking the right candidate to join our established and experienced Lairage department at Dunbia West Devon, operating on an alternating weekly shift pattern following training (completed):
- Week 1: Monday to Friday
- Week 2: Monday to Thursday & Sunday
Responsibilities
The role involves:
- Using a computer to book in cattle
- Handling and managing cattle movements
- Ensuring a strong focus on animal welfare
Training will be fully provided, but candidates must demonstrate:
- A strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- Some flexibility is required (call-out rota in effect, distributed fairly among the team)

Key tasks include:
- Following and adhering to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (training provided)
- Maintaining a fast-paced environment aligned with production demands
- Collaborating with the team and manager to meet department targets
- Promoting and upholding Health, Safety and Hygiene standards in line with company policies
- Ensuring constant welfare of animals

Qualifications & Requirements
Key eligibility criteria include:
- Full UK Driving License (access to a vehicle is preferred due to rural location with limited public transport)
- Positive, proactive attitude toward work and teamwork
- Ability to work well to deadlines
- Reliability and hard work ethic
- Flexibility with hours
- Willingness to commit to the company’s Mission, Vision & Values
- Basic computer literacy
- Confidence and experience handling animals
