About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Livestock Procurement Manager. Reporting to the Site General Manager and Group Procurement Manager, this supplier-facing role offers a dynamic environment with insights into the meat industry and livestock procurement.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Liaising with farmers, vets, livestock agents, and abattoir teams
- Ensuring animal welfare compliance with legislative requirements
- Fostering strong relationships within the supply chain
This is a demanding position that requires:
- A passionate interest in livestock and food chain operations
- Excellent communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Computer literacy for data handling and procurement tools

Responsibilities
Procurement & Supply Coordination
- Ensure livestock purchased meets production requirements, aligning with customer demands and production plans
- Coordinate supply regimes with livestock agents, farmers, and suppliers to guarantee efficient livestock sourcing
- Negotiate prices and develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to secure competitive deals
- Monitor and forecast future demand to optimise procurement strategies
Farm & Processing Oversight
- Conduct farm visits for livestock selection while maintaining strong farmer relationships, including participation in producer group meetings
- Ensure timely livestock deliveries according to scheduled production plans
- Collaborate with lairage and abattoir teams to confirm operational efficiency and capacity alignment
Animal Welfare & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to animal welfare legislation and company operating procedures for safe movement, handling, and transportation
- Record and maintain slaughter data accurately to support quality assessments and auditing

Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain open communication with senior management through regular progress reports
- Implement compliance audits and contribute to continuous process improvements in procurement workflows
Requirements
- A strong interest in livestock procurement and meat production
- Experience in animal welfare standards and abattoir operations
- Excellent negotiation, organisational, and supply chain management skills
- Proficiency in IT systems for data recording and procurement processes
- Ability to manage relationships with diverse supplier networks
- Travel between farms and suppliers may be required
