We are seeking an experienced and motivated Custody Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team within the Kittybrewster Custody Suite and Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service (SARCS) for a fixed term maternity cover. This is a unique opportunity to deliver trauma-informed care in a challenging and rewarding environment, supporting both custody healthcare and forensic medical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred nursing care to individuals in police custody and SARCS settings.
- Undertake forensic medical examinations and act as a forensically trained chaperone in line with HIS standards.
- Work collaboratively with Forensic Medical Examiners, Police Custody Officers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold the highest standards of evidence collection and chain of custody.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse (Adult/Mental Health) with current NMC registration.
- Willingness to undertake additional training, including Non-Medical Prescribing and Forensic Examination skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced clinical examination skills /Evidence of further education in areas such as Minor Injury/Illness. Or willingness to undertake
Desirable
- Experience in custody healthcare or forensic nursing.
- Experience in Emergency medicine, acute care or primary care

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
