Lloyds Banking Group Customer Support - Hemel Hempstead
Customer Support
Location(s): Hemel Hempstead and St Albans (Available to work across Lloyds and Halifax branches within a reasonable distance)
Hours: 22 hours per week (including Saturdays) Working Pattern: Part-time Salary: £16,468 (rising to £16,940 after 6 months)
We’ll discuss periods of changing demand and adjust hours where necessary, so flexibility is beneficial.
About the Role
You’ll begin in a branch, delivering face-to-face support while handling everyday banking tasks—though the core of the role is helping customers during challenging moments. This could involve:
- Offering reassurance during bereavements
- Resolving fraud concerns
- Supporting vulnerable customers
- Building digital banking confidence
You’ll adapt to customer needs, promote digital services, and confidently guide customers to self-sufficiency with online/mobile banking. Additionally, you’ll identify opportunities to connect customers with suitable products or services.
No prior banking experience is required—what matters is calmness under pressure, adaptability, and empathy. As you progress, opportunities may arise to support customers via phone, online (web chat, video), or social media.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
