๐Ÿ“ Location: London (Hybrid)
๐Ÿ“„ Employment Type: Permanent

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded Market Risk & Middle Office Senior Associate to join a growing LNG trading business.

Working as part of a high-performing Risk & Middle Office team, you'll play a key role in managing market risk across an expanding physical and financial LNG trading portfolio. You'll also contribute to the continued development of risk frameworks, ETRM capabilities, reporting, and governance as the business expands into new markets and products. • Monitor market risk exposures, hedge positions and approved trading limits across physical and financial portfolios.
  • Maintain and validate independent pricing curves, forward curves and valuation methodologies.
  • Review and approve physical and financial transactions from a market risk perspective.
  • Support the development and monitoring of hedging strategies across LNG, freight, bunker fuel, FX and EU ETS.
  • Monitor hedge effectiveness and recommend improvements to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and enhance market risk reporting, dashboards and management information.
  • Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to assess market impacts.
  • Contribute to the development of VaR, CaR, EaR and stress testing methodologies.
  • Lead market risk workstreams for new products, markets and strategic initiatives.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement across market risk processes and reporting.
  • Support the development, testing and enhancement of ETRM market risk functionality.
  • Strengthen controls and processes in line with internal risk policies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for LNG market risk, providing guidance to colleagues where required.
  • Build strong relationships with Trading, Chartering, Legal, Finance and Technology teams.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory reporting activities.

Iโ€™m in my final year doing Economics and I donโ€™t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer โ€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโ€™t need a masters. Letโ€™s look at the ones youโ€™d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
