Role Description

The LNG Process & FEED Lead Engineer is responsible for leading process engineering activities for LNG facilities, with a focus on Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phases. This full-time, hybrid role is based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. Day-to-day tasks include developing and reviewing process designs, preparing process flow diagrams and P&IDs, performing simulations and calculations, and overseeing process control philosophies for LNG systems. The role coordinates interdisciplinary input, supports safety and risk assessments, and ensures design compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Lead Engineer mentors junior engineers, contributes to project planning and scheduling, and collaborates closely with project managers and clients to deliver robust, cost-effective LNG process solutions.

Qualifications

  • Strong process engineering capabilities, including Process Engineering and Process Design for LNG and related energy projects.
  • Sound understanding of Process Control principles and systems applied to LNG facilities and associated infrastructure.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills for complex process modeling, optimization, and performance assessment.
  • Academic background in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Experience leading FEED and conceptual design phases for LNG or gas processing projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and safety practices (e.g., HAZOP, SIL, risk assessments).
  • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary interfaces and coordinate with project stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Experience in an international project environment and willingness to collaborate across time zones and cultures.
  • Professional engineering registration or chartership is an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead validation and optimization of the process design basis, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams and P&IDs.
  • Review LNG unloading, storage, boil-off gas handling, send-out, pressure-control, metering, flare/vent and utility systems.
  • Coordinate process simulations, hydraulic studies, equipment sizing, turndown, availability and operability assessments.
  • Integrate process requirements with marine, tank, piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation, safety and commercial workstreams.
  • Define performance guarantees, design margins, acceptance criteria and technical requirements for procurement documents.
  • Support HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, value engineering, constructability and design-review workshops.
  • Evaluate alternative technical proposals and support technical bid clarification and evaluation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering; master’s degree is preferred.
  • Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer or equivalent professional registration is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Aspen HYSYS or equivalent process-simulation software.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 15 years of process-engineering experience, including at least 10 years on LNG receiving, storage, regasification, liquefaction or related cryogenic gas facilities.
  • Proven FEED leadership experience on at least two major LNG or gas-terminal projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 59A, EN 1473, API, ASME, IEC and recognized LNG design practices.
  • Experience with ORV, SCV, IFV, BOG compression, LNG pumps, gas send-out and utility integration.
  • Experience supporting EPC tendering, bid evaluation and lender/owner technical reviews is preferred.

WORK LOCATION AND MOBILITY

  • Candidates must be willing to work from and support Pegasus offices and project assignments in the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
  • International and domestic travel will be required for project meetings, site visits, workshops, technical reviews and stakeholder consultations.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain the necessary visas, security clearances, medical fitness and work authorization; Pegasus will provide reasonable support subject to eligibility and applicable law.
