Loan Documentation Specialist
London/Hybrid
Contract to end March 2027
Day rate from £600 via Umbrella Company DOE

About the Company
My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.
Role Overview
They are seeking an experienced Loan Documentation Specialist to join the Execution Control team. You will be hybrid working being office based 3 days a week with the remainder of time working from home, Monday to Friday standard office hours with the requirement to work outside of those hours during busy periods. The position is being offered on a contract to the end of March 2027 with the potential to extend.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation & Transaction Execution
- Review, interpret and execute loan and trade finance documentation in line with approved credit terms and internal policies.
- Act as SME for documentation-related queries across lending and transaction execution activities.
- Ensure all documentation is operationally complete and suitable for booking and servicing within internal systems.
- Support the execution and settlement of syndicated loan transactions and secondary loan trades.
- Review legal documentation and identify any operational, risk or control concerns.
- Liaise with Front Office, Legal, Compliance, Credit and Operations teams to facilitate timely transaction execution.
- Support negotiation and review of standard market documentation, including LMA documentation where applicable.
- Ensure all transactions are processed accurately and within agreed service levels.

Loan Administration & Systems
- Utilise Loan IQ and associated banking platforms to support transaction implementation and ongoing facility management.
- Assist with complex deal structures, amendments, restructurings and documentation changes.
- Support control activities relating to facility set-up, documentation management and transaction lifecycle events.

Process Improvement & Projects
- Contribute to operational change initiatives and business improvement projects.
- Assist with system enhancements, testing and implementation activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve controls, efficiencies and client service delivery.
- Support project workstreams impacting documentation, workflow and execution processes.

Team Support
- Draft and maintain operational procedures and process documentation.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members and wider operational colleagues.
- Assist Team Leaders with reporting, MI production and departmental initiatives.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience within Loan Documentation, Loan Administration or Execution Control.
- Strong understanding of loan products, syndicated lending and transaction execution processes.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting complex lending documentation.
- Working knowledge of Loan IQ.
- Experience operating within a banking or financial services environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience writing procedures and improving operational processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Detail-oriented and highly organised.
- Able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Confident communicator with a collaborative approach.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
