Local Services Manager
Senior Leadership Role in Dementia Services – Local Services Manager
Are you ready to take the next step into a senior leadership role and shape the future of dementia services across West Sussex?
We are seeking a Local Services Manager to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis (21 hours per week), with regular travel across West Sussex required. This role involves one day per week working from our Horsham office, primarily to support and manage local volunteers.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to lead the delivery and development of dementia support services across a diverse county largely composed of rural areas. About the Role
As Local Services Manager, you will provide visible, values-driven leadership to deliver excellent outcomes for people living with dementia. Your role encompasses:
- Supporting and raising workplace standards across teams to ensure safe, high-quality care
- Expanding local partnerships to improve service reach and effectiveness
- Identifying innovative ways to support people affected by dementia
- Representing the charity locally and regionally, including engagement with essential stakeholders
- Collaborating across South East services to strengthen national alignability
Key Responsibilities
Your primary role will include:
- Strategic leadership: Leading, performing, and guiding contract delivery with an emphasis on quality, compliance, and performance.
- Team management: Leading, mentoring, and developing Dementia Advisers and volunteers and fostering an engaging work culture.
- Relationship building: Proactively developing strong partnerships with local authorities, health boards, and pathway partners, including presenting to diverse groups and overseeing stakeholder advocacy for people with dementia.
- Quality assurance: Contributing to quality monitoring, performance management, and team culture of the West Sussex operations.
- Cross-team collaboration: Working closely with fellow Local Services Managers and the South East Regional Management Team to plan and implement service improvements.
- Regional development: Supporting the development of dementia services across Sussex and the wider South East region.
- Opportunity identification: Finding ways to strengthen services and improve outcomes for people affected by dementia.

About You
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in service delivery management (especially within health, social care, or community settings), or transferable experience from related sectors.
- Experience leading geographically dispersed, community-based teams and managing contract compliance focused on quality and safe delivery.
- Technical capability: Confident use of IT systems and computerised recording systems for managing and reviewing information. Experience with virtual communication (e.g., Microsoft Teams) is essential.
- Passion for dementia care: Deep commitment to improving services for people affected by dementia and understanding the lived experience.
- Commitment to values: Alignment with Alzheimer’s Society’s focus on equity, inclusivity, and meeting diverse community needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability: Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across dispersed teams.
- Relationship skills: Strong stakeholder engagement and performance monitoring ability.
- Mobility and local presence: Willingness to travel regularly across West Sussex and actively maintain strong local connections.
