Localisation Associate (German speaking) - Relocation to Athens, Greece

PeopleCert is hiring a Localisation Associate to manage the end-to-end translation of business and IT products from English into German. This includes official books, exams, and training materials.

You’ll oversee translation projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables by coordinating with freelancers, Language Service Providers (LSPs), and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Your responsibilities include:


Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and implement translation projects within XTM TMS (Translation Management System), ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met while working with the Enterprise Project Manager.
  • Identify and leverage AI tools (e.g., machine translation, language models) to boost workflow efficiency and maintain high-quality outputs.
  • Oversee translations of varied content—from exams to training materials—ensuring consistency and quality across all products.
  • Perform file alignments, update and maintain translation memories, and prepare files for translation to optimise resource efficiency.
  • Source, onboard, and manage external translators, LSPs, and SMEs, fostering strong working relationships to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Conduct rigorous quality checks on translated materials, guaranteeing cultural relevance and technical precision.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for feedback, proactively addressing issues and escalating them when necessary.
  • Handle all administrative duties, including file management, reporting, and supplier communication—collaborating closely with internal teams.

Requirements

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • Native or near-native fluency in German and English (a LanguageCert C2 LTE/C2 IESOL certificate is a plus).
  • 1+ years of experience working in an LSP environment or translation team—focused on English→German.
  • Experience in professional education sectors is preferred.
  • Academic background in Translation Studies or German Linguistics is a bonus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Proficiency in CAT tools, Machine Translation (MT), and TMS (preferably XTM experience).
  • Experience handling file formats (Word, InDesign, etc.) and understanding file engineering.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and independent—with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and builders.
