Post Type: Full-Time, Permanent Contract (37 hours per week) Salary: £38,325 per annum

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Locality Manager to lead our Supported Living and Community Support services in and around York.

In this dynamic role, you will:

  • Work closely with Service Managers and Support Workers to deliver high-quality, person-centred services to adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Mental Health needs.
  • Play a key strategic role within Senior Management, shaping the future of the organisation.
  • Ensure service quality and compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Responsibilities

As the Registered Manager for this locality, you will:

  • Assume full responsibility for service quality, CQC compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide effective leadership, fostering a supportive culture where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.
  • Develop and implement person-centred care plans in line with best practice and organisational values.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
    • Staff members
    • The people we support
    • Families and guardians
    • Commissioners (including Local Authority and NHS partners)
  • Champion Avalon’s reputation through collaborative partnerships and advocacy.

Additionally, this role requires you to:

  • Operate a TRUSTED DEDICATED VEHICLE on a regular basis as part of your duties.
  • Work towards (or hold) a Level 5 relevant qualification in social care (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills—both verbally and in writing—to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience working as a manager in a social care environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in digital record-keeping systems.
  • Full UK driving licence with full insurance and the ability to provide a motor vehicle for work use.
  • Ability to undertake and pass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • A strong commitment to person-centred care principles.
