Job Title: Band 6 Acute Medical Physiotherapist

Banding: 6
Location: Leicester
Start: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing Contract
Rate: Competitive (DOE)
Working hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 6 Acute Medical Physiotherapist to join a busy and supportive acute hospital team in Leicester. This locum opportunity offers an immediate start and an ongoing contract, providing the chance to work within a fast-paced acute medical setting, supporting patients with complex needs and helping to facilitate safe and effective discharge planning.

What will your responsibilities be:

As a Band 6 Acute Medical Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing, treating, and managing patients across acute medical wards.
  • Delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions aimed at improving mobility, respiratory function, and overall independence.
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and discharge coordinators, to ensure patients receive coordinated and patient-centred care.
  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments, developing personalised treatment plans, maintaining accurate clinical records.
  • Contributing to discharge planning to support timely patient flow throughout the hospital.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience working as a Band 6 Physiotherapist or equivalent.
  • Recent NHS experience within an acute medical setting.
  • Experience managing a varied acute caseload.
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service is desirable.
