About the Role

Pulse is seeking an experienced Band 6 Podiatrist to provide locum services for Hertfordshire Community Trust in the St Albans area, with a focus on:

  • Community-based podiatry
  • Diabetic foot care
  • Lower limb management

The role emphasizes patient-centred care, particularly for individuals managing complex conditions. Successful candidates will contribute to improving patient outcomes through expert clinical support and multidisciplinary collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality podiatry services in a community setting
  • Manage a diverse caseload with a priority on diabetic foot care and complications
  • Conduct assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of lower limb conditions
  • Perform nail surgery procedures (requires local anaesthesia certification)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., diabetes specialists, nurses)
  • Maintain accurate clinical records using SystemOne
  • Lead health promotion and patient education initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • HCPC registration as a Podiatrist
  • Certificate in local anaesthesia (community-based Podiatrists)
  • Post-registration experience in diabetic care (preferably in NHS/community settings)
  • Strong understanding of lower limb complications linked to diabetes
  • Proficient in using SystemOne
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle (essential for community mobility)

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with collaborative working in NHS/community podiatry teams
