Locum Consultant Dermatologist
Locum Consultant Dermatologist – Fixed Term (12 Months) | NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care to a population of over 1.15 million (with services extending to 2.2 million regionally).
About the Role
This is a fixed-term, part-time (32 hours per week, over 4 days) locum consultant post in Dermatology, based primarily at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Stobhill Hospital, with the flexibility to work elsewhere as required by the Clinical Service Lead.
The post offers 8 Programme Activities (PAs) within the Glasgow and Clyde Dermatology Directorate for a duration of 12 months. The salary is pro rata for part-time hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide adult dermatology services as part of a multidisciplinary team, including:
- Cutaneous surgery (including Mohs surgery)
- Skin cancer diagnostics and management
- Photodermatology
- Contact dermatitis
- Severe psoriasis
- Teaching and clinical education
- Genodermatoses
- Paediatric dermatology
- Connective tissue disorders
- Vulval dermatoses
- Lymphoma-related skin conditions
- Hair disorders
- Deliver outpatient services at multiple hospital sites:
- Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Stobhill Hospital
- Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (regional tertiary centre)
- Inverclyde Royal Hospital
- Royal Alexandra Hospital
- Vale of Leven Hospital
- New Victoria Hospital
- Gartnaval General Hospital
- Collaborate with consultants, GP clinical assistants, and specialist dermatology nurses under the hub-and-spoke model.

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Full GMC registration and a licence to practice
- MRCP or equivalent qualification
- Eligibility for the Specialist Register, including:
- Completed higher specialist training in Dermatology (leading to Certificate of Completion of Training, CCT, or CESR eligibility)
- Alternatively, within 6 months of confirmed entry onto the Specialist Register from the date of interview
- UK-trained candidates: Evidence of completed higher dermatology training or near-completion (as above)
- Non-UK applicants: Must demonstrate equivalent training recognition

Special Considerations
- Experience or interest in cutaneous surgery, photodermatology, or genodermatoses will be advantageous
