I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We currently have 5 specialty Trainees, along with 2 specialty doctors in Blackpool. There is also a team of clinical scientists and nurse practitioners.

The role will be on our JACIE accredited regional unit that treats acute leukaemia, relapsed/refractory lymphoma patients, Burkitt’s lymphoma and undertakes autologous stem cell transplants. We believe in treating as many patients as possible at home through our ambulatory chemotherapy unit, with plans to develop on-site patient accommodation to facilitate this. We have a strong track record in research and we are high recruiters to many national trials. Teaching is also our passion and involvement in teaching our specialist registrars and junior doctors, as well as medical students via our growing links with the new UCLAN Medical School, is very much encouraged.
