Job Summary
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is the largest multi-site trust in UK. The Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department works across three sites: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Good Hope Hospital (GHH) and Solihull Hospital (SH). The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, burns & plastics and has the largest solid organ transplantation program in Europe. The maxillofacial Unit is a regional centre for Head and Neck Cancer, Cleft, Craniofacial and Skull Base Surgery. There are close working relationships with ENT and Plastics.
This is a 1-year fixed-term locum consultant post. The appointee will be expected to support the Maxillofacial unit by assisting in all aspects for recovery of services. During the fixed term appointment there will be the opportunity to have access to our specialist team with skills in orthognathic surgery, oral surgery and trauma. The job plan will include a commitment to clinic and theatre as well as an expectation for on-call cover on a 1-13 rota. Time will be given for admin and supporting professional activities. Our consultants work within a culture of mutual respect and colleague support. Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
The appointee will be involved in running clinics and theatres at Queen Elizabeth, City Hospital. The appointee with be responsible for supporting the orthognathic surgery service, as well as more routine oral surgery commitments at City Hospital/Solihull Hospital. The appointee will be expected to attend multidisciplinary orthognathic clinics at Birmingham Dental Hospital & Good Hope Hospital on a monthly basis. They will fulfil and On-call emergency rota of 1:13 weeks.

Job Description
The post holder will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the service.
Subject to the provisions of the terms and conditions of service they must observe agreed policies on clinical matters and should follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Hospital.
In the management of employees of the Trust, they will be expected to follow legislation laid down in this respect.
All employees must comply with the Trust Infection Control Policy. All employees must attend infection control training as required within their department or as directed by their line manager.
You will be expected to be committed to Continuing Professional Development that satisfies the criteria laid down by the Royal College of Surgeons.

Qualifications
Essential
- Dental degree
- Medical degree
- Full GMC registration as a Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
