About the Role
Full-time Consultant Spinal Surgeon with a responsibility in adult spines and paediatric spinal deformity for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Locum Consultant Spinal Surgeon role at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust offers a unique and exciting opportunity to join an internationally renowned, multidisciplinary team at the forefront of Spinal Surgical care. You’ll provide expert clinical leadership across a diverse caseload, including the management of acute spinal emergencies as well as complex tertiary-level elective cases within a specialist regional service catering to a population of over six million. Responsibilities
- Deliver expert clinical and surgical care to children with spinal pathology, managing long-term conditions such as Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).
- Lead inpatient and outpatient services, and provide specialist advice to patients and partners across Nottinghamshire as well as allied hospitals across the East Midlands.
- Teach and supervise junior staff, contributing to clinical governance, audit, and research.
- Work closely within a multidisciplinary team to drive service development.
- Advanced (Fellowship-trained) clinical skills in the management of trauma, spinal oncology, as well as a strong foundation in the management of degenerative conditions and paediatric spinal deformity.

Role Details
This role will initially mostly cover paediatrics. At time of appointment, clinic and operating sessions will be children's only, with opportunity to integrate with the wider surgical and multidisciplinary team at MDT sessions. On-call duties support both paediatric and adult patients. This will be reviewed and remaining within a 10PA job plan, the role is expected to be split further between adult and paediatric services as the service demands change.
