Locum General and Paediatric Radiology Consultant
Job Summary
University Hospitals Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Paediatric Radiology to join our Imaging Department. This is an exciting opportunity to develop paediatric imaging services within one of the UK's largest NHS Trusts whilst contributing significantly to a busy adult general radiology service.
The successful candidate will support paediatric inpatient, outpatient and emergency imaging pathways, working closely with paediatricians, neonatologists, paediatric surgeons and safeguarding teams. Responsibilities include neonatal imaging, participation in non-accidental injury (NAI) pathways and multidisciplinary team working.
This is not a standalone paediatric radiology post. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to the adult general radiology service and must be competent in acute adult imaging practice. The role includes participation in duty radiologist activities, acute CT and MRI reporting, adult ultrasound, multidisciplinary meetings and the consultant on-call rota.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities are to:
- Provide consultant-level paediatric radiology services, including reporting of paediatric radiographs, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI examinations.
- Support neonatal, inpatient, outpatient and emergency paediatric imaging pathways, working closely with paediatricians, neonatologists, paediatric surgeons and safeguarding teams.
- Participate in non-accidental injury (NAI) imaging pathways and provide specialist paediatric radiology input to multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute fully to the adult general radiology service, including acute cross-sectional imaging, ultrasound, duty radiologist activities and MDT participation.
- Participate in the general radiology consultant on-call rota (currently approximately 1 in 24 - 26), providing support for both adult and paediatric emergency imaging services.
- Contribute to teaching, audit, governance, quality improvement and service development activities.
We Welcome Applications From Candidates Who
- Hold GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Hold FRCR (or equivalent) and CCT in Clinical Radiology (or equivalent specialist accreditation).
- Have specialist training and experience in Paediatric Radiology.
- Are competent in acute adult general radiology and willing to participate fully in adult duty and on-call commitments.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills.
- Are committed to high-quality patient care, education and continuous professional development.

- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development including CME
- RCR Fellowship or equivalent
