Locum Specialist/Consultant Doctor in Rheumatology
Junior Rheumatology Post – North Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
About the Role
We are appointing an enthusiastic and committed doctor to join our established Rheumatology team across North Hampshire Hospital (Basingstoke) and Royal Hampshire County Hospital (Winchester).
This is an ideal opportunity for doctors with Rheumatology experience, including those seeking stability and career progression, potentially towards Consultant level in Rheumatology.
The successful candidate will work alongside nine specialist Rheumatology Consultants to provide high-quality(), specialist rheumatological care across both hospital sites.
Role Growth & Development
- Support and participate in diagnosis, treatment, and patient management
- Work across outpatient and routine inpatient care services
- Active involvement in key rheumatology service development areas:
- Biologics and autoinflammatory diseases (CTD)
- Fracture Liaison services
- Development of Ankylosing Spondylitis service
- Transition to Adult Rheumatology services
- Structured support to gain full Rheumatology competencies through experience
- Opportunity to contribute towards achieving Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Rheumatology over time

- Diagnostic pathways and patient care coordination
- Outpatient rheumatology service management
- In-patient and acute rheumatology care contribution
- Service development initiatives
- Integration with existing Teams across Basingstoke/RHCH sites
