Logistics Director – FMCG Retail/Wholesale

Location: London Type: Permanent


About the Role

MacGregor Black is partnering with a leading FMCG business to recruit an experienced Logistics Director. This strategic position will drive world-class supply chain and logistics operations to support business growth and elevate customer service delivery.

Are you an experienced logistics leader with a track record of delivering excellence in retail/wholesale logistics? A passion for continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and team development is essential.


Key Responsibilities

Logistics Operations & Strategy

  • Lead and oversee all logistics operations, including:
    • Transport management
    • In-house and third-party (3PL) fleet operations
    • National distribution centres
  • Develop and align logistics strategies with business growth and customer service objectives
  • Partner with 3PL providers, ensuring high service levels, cost controls, and contractual compliance

Operational Excellence & Efficiency

  • Optimise the distribution network for efficiency, covering:
    • Routing and warehousing operations
    • Last-mile delivery solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement using data, technology, and process innovation
  • Maintain high availability and on-time delivery to an extensive retail network

Financial & Compliance Leadership

  • Manage logistics budgets, cost controls, and financial forecasting, identifying savings opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • UK transport regulations
    • Health & safety standards
    • Other regulatory requirements

People & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing multi-site logistics team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with:
    • Retail teams
    • Supply chain
    • Merchandising & e-commerce

Requirements

Essential Experience

✔ Proven senior leadership in logistics within a large-scale UK retail/wholesale environment ✔ Hands-on experience managing:

  • In-house logistics fleets
  • Third-party 3PL relationships ✔ National distribution centre expertise and multi-site logistics sourcing ✔ Strong track record servicing a large, complex retail network ✔ Commercial and financial acumen with experience managing high-value logistics budgets
