Logistics Engineer
Job Description: Logistics Engineer – CDE Global, Monkstown, Northern Ireland

The Role: Logistics Engineer
Job Purpose
The Logistics Engineer will design, optimise, and lead CDE’s stores and logistics processes, with a focus on implementing a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) programme. You will:
- Define and sustain operational excellence
- Align stores & logistics with technical and system requirements
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to enhance efficiency
- Lead improvement projects to reduce waste and improve service levels
(Note: Additional duties may be assigned based on business needs.)
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan for Every Part (PFEP)
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive PFEP programme for all materials
- Define optimal storage, replenishment strategies, and material flow
- Ensure data accuracy and governance across all systems
- Collaborate with Procurement, Planning, Engineering, and Operations to standardise part-level planning
2. Stores & Logistics Process Optimisation
- Redesign and optimise stores layouts, material flow, and handling processes
- Define standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all stores & logistics activities
- Ensure efficient receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch processes
- Conduct operational analysis and implement improvements for maximum throughput and accuracy

3. Systems & IT Requirements
- Define and manage functional and technical requirements for Stores & Logistics systems (ERP/MRP, WMS)
- Work with IT to implement system enhancements and ensure alignment with operational needs
- Drive visibility, tracking, and data integrity to improve inventory and logistics performance
4. Continuous Improvement & Project Delivery
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects to:
- Reduce costs
- Increase service levels
- Eliminate waste
- Apply lean principles (root cause analysis, Kaizen) and problem-solving methodologies
- Monitor improvement initiatives and measure benefits realisation
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and IT
- As a subject matter expert, ensure materials availability meets production requirements
- Drive cohesive change across teams
6. Performance Management & Reporting
- Define and track KPIs for logistics & stores performance, including:
- PFEP completeness and accuracy
- Inventory accuracy and stock integrity
- Material availability to production
- Stores efficiency (pick rates, space utilisation, throughput)
- Logistics cost/performance
- System utilisation and data accuracy
- Improvement project delivery (time, cost, impact)
- Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders
- Analyse data and implement corrective-action plans
7. Other Requirements
- Adhere to CDE’s policies and procedures
- Perform reasonable additional duties as required

Skills & Experience
Required Criteria
- Proven experience in logistics engineering, supply chain, or warehouse optimisation
- Strong understanding of PFEP principles and material planning methodologies
- Experience with ERP/MRP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Demonstrated track record in process improvements and project delivery
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication
- Highly detail-oriented and proactive
- Ability to influence and drive change across teams
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement
Desired Criteria
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Lean / Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or equivalent)
- Knowledge of warehouse design and material handling solutions
- Understanding of transport and logistics networks
