Job Description: Logistics Operations Manager (Derby) – Full-Time (37 hours per week)

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Operations Manager to join our team on a permanent basis in Derby as part of Rolls-Royce.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Logistics, this Logistics Operations Manager (Level C) role will lead and develop logistics operations for Large Engines Assembly & Test (LSC). Within this role, you will:

Core Duties:

  • Play a lead role in operational risk reduction across the Shop Control and Supply Chain Operations (SSO) team.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the Materials Management Centre (MMC) and Assembly & Test operations, ensuring seamless part flows using Just-in-Time principles and a zero-defect culture.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production teams, planning and logistics to mitigate delivery disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Drive risk reduction within LSC, aligning with Rolls-Royce’s risk management framework (RP structure).
  • Operational Insight:
    • Use disruption app data to generate weekly and monthly KPIs, identifying performance trends.
    • Provide analytical insights to drive continuous improvement across large engines logistics.
  • Escalation & Stakeholder Management:
    • Be the primary escalation contact for part disruptions, resolving issues efficiently.
    • Attend daily escalation meetings, ensuring ongoing operational alignment.
  • Daily Walk Rounds: Engage with customers to understand requirements and proactively mitigate delivery risks.
  • Planning & Risk Mitigation:
    • Support weekly lock-down planning meetings by identifying potential schedule risks.
    • Prioritise and escalate part delivery risks that may impact production timelines.
  • Process & Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to physical logistics standards and operational protocols.
    • Develop team capabilities in Lean tools and behaviours, fostering a culture of efficiency.
  • Interface Roles: Oversee the interface between Large Engines Assembly & Test, maintaining production flow priorities.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in leading Lean and continuous improvement initiatives within a complex, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong background in stakeholder management, combining leadership with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven cost-management awareness and financial acumen, ideally within a supply chain or logistics context.
  • Knowledge of OE Engine Build Sequencing and MRP systems (Material Requirements Planning).
  • Experience applying programme and project management methodologies.
  • Adept at delivering high performance under challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, balancing operational real-time issues with strategic improvements.
