The Luton manufacturing plant, established in 1993, specialises in ice protection systems and military/flight deck transparencies, supporting high-profile programmes—including Boeing 787, AgustaWestland AW101, Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, and Eurofighter Typhoon. Collaborating with global industry leaders (Boeing, Airbus, BAE Systems, Leonardo, etc.), the team provides critical aviation solutions while fostering career opportunities.
Role: Logistics Specialist (Luton Site)
Location
GKN Aerospace Luton – providing world-class logistics for both defence and civil aviation programmes.
Hours
Core operational hours: • Monday to Thursday: 07:30–16:30 • Friday: 07:30–12:30
Key Responsibilities
The Logistics Specialist will:
- Ensure operational safety for employees and assets.
- Optimise logistics processes to:
- Reduce lead-times,
- Lower operational costs,
- Enhance customer service and delivery quality.
- Foster collaboration across Finance, Operations, Commercial, Purchasing, and Supply Chain.
- Transactional & Inventory Management:
- Confirm real-time inventory accuracy via ERP/MRP systems.
- Handle customer order fulfilment, packaging, and invoicing.
- Compliance: manage requisite HMRC regulations and documentation.
- Execute core logistics functions:
- Inbound/Receiving, stock movements, warehousing
- Outbound/Shipping logistics, freight management
- Cycle counting, materials scrap processing
- Arrange and coordinate courier/transport providers.

Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- Proficiency in administrative tasks or experience in an administrative role.
- Strong ability to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office applications.
Desirable
- Logistics industry experience, particularly within manufacturing environments.
- Experience processing shipping orders via ERP systems (e.g:, SAP).
- Transportation management (logistics, bookings, courier relationships).
Personality Attributes
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented team player.
- Meets deadlines, maintains strong numeracy skills, and business acumen.
- Open to professional development (on-the-job training provided).
