Logistics Specialist
Logistics Specialist – Luton

About the Role
The Logistics Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence for both our Defence and Civil business lines, based in our Luton manufacturing plant. You’ll support critical logistics functions—from receiving and warehousing to shipping and inventory management—while driving efficiencies, cost savings, and customer satisfaction.
Our Luton site, established in 1993, is a leader in ice protection systems and aircraft transparencies, serving iconic programmes like: Boeing 787, AgustaWestland AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon, and Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. Supporting our 370+ employees across aircraft manufacturers and supply chains, we seek a self-motivated, hands-on specialist to elevate our logistics performance.
Core operational hours: 07:30–16:30 (Mon–Thu), 07:30–12:30 (Fri).
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety and efficiency: Ensure a secure working environment while upholding health and safety standards.
- Optimise processes: Deliver logistics tasks with a focus on:
- Reducing lead-time, costs, and despatch errors
- Enhancing customer service, quality, and delivery reliability
- Cross-functional collaboration: Foster strong relationships with Finance, Operations, Commercial, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams.
- Inventory accuracy: Process transactional activities in systems like ERP and MRP to ensure stock and order accuracy.
- Manage shipments: Handle finished goods, customer PO processing, and invoicing in full coordination with delivery schedules.
- Compliance: Obtain and maintain documents to meet business and regulatory (HMRC) requirements.
- Waste handling: Process scrap materials in alignment with internal policies.
- Transport coordination: Book and manage courier/forwarding services, maintaining strong vendor relationships.

What You’ll Bring
Essential Requirements
✔ Administrative experience (or the ability to execute tasks in this realm) ✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and the full Microsoft Office suite
Desirable Skills
✔ Logistics experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment ✔ Shipping processing with experience in ERP systems ✔ Transport coordination (courier/forwarding management) ✔ SAP system knowledge (a bonus)

- Self-motivated team player – willing to roll up sleeves and learn
- Numeracy and time-management skills – accuracy is critical
- Commercial mindset – mindful of operational impact
- Effective communicator – able to liaise across departments
