Logistics Shift Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Shift Supervisor to join our team within Vistry Works East Midlands, at our Coalville factory.

As our Logistics Shift Supervisor, you will report directly to the Logistics Manager and be responsible for the management of a Logistics team within a timber frame manufacturing facility. You will work across automated and manual production lines, maintaining the highest level of safety, environmental and on-time-in-full standards.

This role will operate Mon - Thurs from 2pm to 10.30pm and Fridays 2pm to 8pm.

What we would like from you...

  • You will be a natural leader and communicator and have experience with managing and developing people in a challenging environment with the ability to train and motivate logistic staff to achieve deadlines and safety standards
  • You will have a thorough understanding of Health and Safety and the requisite processes and procedures, with the safety and wellbeing of our people being our key priority
  • You will have a thorough understanding of employee management and the associated processes and procedures
  • Confidence in a variety of logistic processes, including the loading of large complex items and safe running of various manual handling plant
  • The ability to identify, communicate and implement opportunities for continuously improving working methods
  • A strong general awareness of Health & Safety, manufacturing, production. Some knowledge of transportation, construction and on-site installation would be beneficial for this role

  • Manage staffing requirements in the logistics teams including interviews and inductions, time sheets, allocate work schedules and shift planning
  • Ensure all direct reports are suitably trained to carry out their assigned roles
  • Managing all holidays and absences
  • Conduct any investigations, performance management or other duties as required
  • Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
  • Lead, coach and develop logistics team to achieve performance targets
  • Maintain paperwork and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct daily briefings with your team
  • Manage all internal Counterbalance/Combi/side loader fleet
  • Monitor workflow to optimise efficiency and minimise bottlenecks
  • Promote a positive, safety focused working environment, conduct toolbox talks, safe use of equipment
  • Maintain compliance with legal and company safety standards

Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities (not an exhaustive list)

  • Collaborating with appropriate teams to ensure a smooth flow of goods in, removal of WIP and dispatch of finished goods
  • Ensure that all material requirements are in place for manufacturing, resolving material shortages where possible, or escalating any issues
  • Daily management of waste levels
  • End of shift hand over and reports
  • Working collaboratively with the opposite shift, ensuring that both shifts work as one team to achieve shared goals and targets
  • You will ensure all safety and environmental policies are adhered to and applied consistently, including conducting various checks and recording all data associated with them
  • You will be alert to ‘right first time’ quality standards, informing others where standards are not met so that they can take appropriate action as required to contribute to the production of a quality product
  • You will be flexible and willing to assist in busier periods where necessary, taking a first hand role to ensure that logistic schedules are met
  • You will be able to identify, communicate and implement opportunities for continuously improving working methods and seeking efficiencies
  • You will be required to conduct any reasonable tasks or operations as directed by your line manager in the course of your duties
