Description
We are currently recruiting for a Logistics Supervisor on the Night Shift at our site in Cradley Heath, Birmingham.
In this role you will lead and supervise the night shift loading operations, ensuring all customer orders are picked, loaded, and dispatched safely, accurately, and on time. The role is responsible for driving safety standards, team performance, and operational efficiency within a busy metals warehouse environment.
The Nights Team includes 4 Drivers who you will oversee and support as well as 3 Warehouse Operatives.
The shifts are:
- Monday- Thursday: 10pm- 6.30am
- Fridays: 8pm-2am
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the night shift loading team to meet dispatch targets and service levels.
- Allocate workloads and monitor productivity to ensure efficient order fulfilment.
- Oversee loading operations using overhead cranes and FLT equipment, ensuring safe handling of various steel and aluminium products.
- Ensure all loads are compliant, secure, and meet transport/legal requirements.
- Act as the first point of contact for team members during the shift communicating with external Vendors such as vehicle service centres.
- Conduct shift briefings, ensuring clear communication of priorities, safety updates, and KPIs.
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching, support, and training where required.
- Promote and enforce a strong health & safety culture, including PPE compliance and safe systems of work.
- Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and operational issues.
- Liaise with planning, transport, and day shift teams to ensure a smooth handover and continuous workflow.
- Supervision and support of the Night drivers.
- Ensure accurate completion of paperwork and system updates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Proven experience in a supervisory position within a distribution warehouse or metal distribution environment
- Strong understanding of health & safety in a heavy industrial setting
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
Desirable
- Valid overhead crane licence
- FLT licence (Counterbalance, Combi, or Side-loader)
- Experience working night shifts in logistics or manufacturing
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (SAP)
- Knowledge of Transport and Planning
