As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Logistics Supervisor to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
The Logistics and Material Controls Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality-controlled supervision of all semi-skilled operatives working on site at NZT. This role ensures that all logistics and material controls requirements and activities needed to deliver our electrical installation works are planned, executed, and handed over in compliance with NZT Site Standards, highly regulated Safety Regulations, and BBK’s operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of semi-skilled operatives and promotes a Zero Harm culture in all activities
- Ensure all electrical work is delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standard by safely and effectively managing the logistics and material controls requirements
- Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day logistics and material controls issues on site and all issues relating to the co-ordination and management of semi-skilled operatives
- Support workforce development by mentoring and coaching junior staff
- Ensure strict adherence to NZT Site Licence Conditions and Highly regulated Safety requirements
- Conduct toolbox talks, task briefings, and ensure compliance with RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) relating to logistics and material controls
- Participate in safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations relating to logistics and material controls
- Plan and coordinate all logistics and material control work in line with the electrical programmes and milestones
- Liaise with site construction and engineering team to ensure adequate materials and plant are available to sequence work effectively
- Monitor progress, resolve issues on site, and report regularly to the Electrical Construction Manager and Site Engineering team
- Oversee the goods inwards, storage & goods outwards processes in accordance with project specifications, BS7671, and NZT standards
- Ensure accurate documentation is completed, including raising PR’s in collaboration with site construction team, compilation of GRN’s, Plant, Materials and Equipment Trackers etc
- Interface with NZT Ltd representatives, QA/QC teams, Safety Teams, and other trade supervisor & attend co-ordination/progress meetings as required
- Implement Lessons Learned and Right First Time

Who we're looking for
The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential
- Individual holds or is working towards relevant approved ECS/JIB card (Level 3 NVQ)
- Passed the Supervisory HSE CSCS touch screen test and obtained their red card
- Must hold IOSH Managing Safely / SSSTS as a minimum
- Must hold IoSCM Level 3 Diploma in Introduction to Warehousing Management or equivalent
- Ability to achieve security clearance for P4 Pass – Min BPSS
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Proficient in risk assessment and safe system of work development and implementation
- High attention to quality and detail in management of works
