About the Role
Plank Hardware is looking for a detail-driven, proactive Logistics & Supply Chain Coordinator to manage the end-to-end flow of product from suppliers to customers, keeping operations running smoothly and cost-effectively.
This role sits at the intersection of logistics and supplier management. You'll be the person who knows exactly where every shipment is, why it's delayed if it's delayed, and what that means for stock cover on both sides of the Atlantic. You'll also be expected to bring fresh thinking — this isn't a "follow the process" role, it's a "help us build a better process" role.
Key Responsibilities
Shipment Tracking & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate and track shipments from suppliers to our UK and US warehouses; maintaining accurate, up-to-date status records
- Proactively identify delays or risks in transit and communicate them clearly and early to internal stakeholders
- Flag discrepancies between supplier-confirmed dates and actual progress
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders and warehouse partners to resolve issues quickly
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and customs requirements
Supplier Communication
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Far East suppliers
- Communicate new product launch timelines and track them through production and shipping milestones
- Manage day-to-day supplier queries, ensuring responses are timely and professional
- Escalate and resolve supplier-side issues (quality, delay, documentation) with appropriate urgency
Stock & Sales Analysis
- Monitor stock cover across UK and US warehouses, identifying risks of stockouts or overstock
- Manage pre-order inventory settings, where applicable
- Produce regular reporting on stock levels, incoming cover, and sales performance to inform purchasing decisions
- Flag and prioritise SKUs at risk of running low ahead of key sales periods
Managing 3PL Warehouse Partners
- Maintain the day to day relationship with 3PL warehouse partners in the UK and USA
- Ensure 3PL partners are performing to SLAs in fulfilling orders, processing returns and managing inbound stock
- Manage iterative process improvements to keep the warehouse operations efficient
- Work with customer service team to feedback any delivery related issues and implement process improvements with each warehouse

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years' experience in a logistics, supply chain, import/export role, ideally with exposure to international (especially Far East) sourcing
- Proven experience tracking shipments end-to-end and managing competing priorities across multiple suppliers and destinations
- Strong analytical skills - comfortable working with stock cover, sales data, and ordering analysis (Excel/Sheets proficiency essential)
- Excellent attention to detail - nothing slips through the cracks on your watch
- Confident, professional communicator - equally comfortable liaising with overseas suppliers as internal teams
- High level of initiative - able to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively
