Essential Functions
The Business Development Specialist will:
- Participate in planning, preparing, and implementing London Business Development Department's initiatives, including any of the following: pitch/proposal; RFP responses, cross-selling activities, and promotion of best practices with a particular focus across all practices;
- Collaborate on key client and industry initiatives with global business development team members;
- Assist in the implementation of seminars and events including negotiating sponsorship packages;
- Work with lawyers on various directory and award submissions, including drafting, referee management and follow-up and coordination with the Recognitions team;
- Provide support in the preparation, editing, coordination, and dissemination of materials including RFPs, pitch proposals, and presentations; and ensure effective follow-up;
- Maintain and update marketing collateral for the London office, also working closely with global practice and sector BD teams on global materials;
- Help collect and maintain deal descriptions and databases;
- Onboarding of new partners, associates, and trainees;
- Research existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and market trends/opportunities; and
- Handle additional Business Development and marketing projects as assigned.
Proficiencies
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Advanced proficiency in online research and internet resources (Lexis-Nexis and equivalents);
- A good understanding of CRM systems;
- Fundamental proficiency in English language usage, including punctuation, spelling, grammar, and writing skills;
- Fundamental knowledge of marketing principles, procedures, concepts, and practical applications;
- Fundamental knowledge of the needs and expectations of law firm operations and corporate legal clients in order to function at a strategic level; and
- Fundamental knowledge of legal concepts.

Qualifications
- At least 5 years of Business Development and marketing experience;
- Experience in a professional services or legal environment (preferred);
- Experience in relation to any of the product and service areas above (preferred but not essential).
