Location: West of London to South West England | Type: Full-Time | Contract: Permanent | Working Arrangement: Home-Based / Field-Based
A well-established and highly regarded claims business is seeking to appoint an experienced Loss Assessor / Loss Adjuster to join its expanding team.
This presents an outstanding opportunity for a property claims professional who thrives in managing claims from instruction to settlement, while upholding a high service standard for policyholders. The role offers significant autonomy, a flexible home/field-based setup, and full support from a skilled and collaborative team.
Ideal candidates must be based anywhere from West of London to the South West of England, providing a strong regional option for professionals seeking field-based work, flexibility, and long-term development.
The Opportunity
As a Loss Assessor / Loss Adjuster, you will oversee residential and commercial property claims, serving as a reliable point of contact for policyholders. Your responsibilities include guiding them through the entire claims process, from first notification to final settlement. The role requires a blend of site visits, loss investigations, report writing, negotiations, and stakeholder management.
You will interact with insurers, brokers, contractors, and other relevant parties, ensuring fair and efficient claims resolution. This position is ideal for someone who works independently, effectively manages their workload, and delivers a professional, empathetic, and solution-driven service throughout the claims cycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage residential and commercial property claims from initiation through to settlement.
- Conduct site visits, assess damage, interview policyholders, and collect evidence needed to advance claims efficiently.
- Draft detailed reports, including recommendations and supporting documentation, following claims assessments.
- Coordinate with policyholders, insurers, brokers, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
- Negotiate fair settlements while balancing customer needs, financial constraints, and policy requirements.
- Independently manage workload, diary scheduling, and turnaround times while meeting internal service and reporting standards.
- Provide calm, professional, and supportive interactions with customers navigate difficult claims scenarios.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to internal procedures and regulatory guidelines.
About You
To excel in this role, you will ideally possess:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Loss Assessor / Loss Adjuster, preferably within property claims.
- Proven experience handling both residential and commercial property claims.
- Strong ability to manage a diverse caseload independently, setting and prioritising workload effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing accurate assessments and reports.
- A confident, customer-centric, and trust-building demeanour.
- Excellent organisational skills and resilience when managing multiple live claims simultaneously.
- Valid full UK driving licence.

Preferred qualifications:
- Accreditation from CILA and/or CII, though these are not mandatory for experienced candidates.

- Competitive salary range: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum, based on experience.
