The role
The Loss Prevention team is at the heart of our large-scale distribution operation, ensuring our sites remain safe and secure around the clock. As a Loss Prevention Officer, you’ll be the frontline of our security, protecting our people, stock, and vehicles across a 24/7 environment. At NEXT, we’ll provide you with the necessary support and training to get you up to speed, ensuring you have the confidence to manage everything from site access to incident reporting.
What you'll take on
- Secure the site: Monitor access for all staff, visitors, and contractors, ensuring only authorised personnel are on-site.
- Protect our assets: Conduct thorough searches of people and vehicles to deter theft and keep stock loss to an absolute minimum.
- Monitor systems: Oversee CCTV, fire, and intruder alarm systems, responding quickly and effectively to any alerts.
- Manage logistics: Control the entry and exit of delivery vehicles and loads, ensuring all movements are logged and secure.
- Handle incidents: Respond to security situations in a calm, professional manner, producing detailed reports and statements for the management team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
