Job Description: Commissioning Engineer (Nuclear LV Electrical Systems)

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning activities across low-voltage (LV) electrical distribution and power systems.
  • Commission transformers, switchboards, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and large battery installations.
  • Ensure safety compliance with nuclear, electrical, and industrial safety requirements during commissioning.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, configuration control, and technical records with accuracy.
  • Analyze test results and resolve technical deviations with clients and stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning hold points and strict nuclear safety compliance.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, process, and I&C (Instrumentation & Control) commissioning teams.
  • Conduct system walkdowns, manage punch lists, and verify operational readiness.
  • Capture operational feedback to improve continuous programme management.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and commissioning technicians oncology.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven commissioning experience in highly regulated industrial environments.
  • Expertise in LV electrical systems, testing, installation, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of electrical isolation, switching procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with Electricity at Work Regulations and BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations).
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, high-security environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Critical problem-solving and proactive, collaborative working approach.

Preferred Certifications

  • IOSH accreditation and Behavioural Safety Programme certification.
