About the Role

As a member of our specialist teaching team, you will:

  • Work with pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, or related complexities
  • Develop tailored learning approaches, foster self-belief, and equip pupils with critical life and educational skills
  • Collaborate closely with specialist psychologists, cured-trained assistants, and therapy experts who bolster pupils’ progress
  • Thrive in a well-resourced school environment within a distinctive 18th-century building in Mitcham, where pupils achieve their best through bespoke, empowering education

Responsibilities

You’ll be more than just a teacher—you’ll embody a ‘can do’ mind-set. As part of Lower Key Stage 1, we expect you to:

  • Build trusting personal connections with pupils, understanding their unique needs and both academic and emotional challenges.
  • Create engaging, subject-aligned lessons that speak directly to pupils’ diverse strengths and learning styles.
  • Foster a growth mindset in your class via encouragement, teamwork, and weekly/termly development.
  • Foster collaboration within your department to streamline best practice for all pupils.

Requirements

  • A Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A track record of (or strong passion for) Supporting young learners with SEMH needs, ASD, or co-occurring special needs.
  • Ability to quickly recognise each pupil’s specific strengths and gently build confidence.
  • Drive to drive curriculum developments longitudinally, working toward Ofsted standards.
