Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports the resident care team by:
- Assessing and documenting residents' conditions upon admission and throughout their stay
- Communicating significant changes in condition to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT)
- Implementing care plans, ensuring treatments (including medications) are administered safely and timely
- Mentoring resident/family education as part of the plan of care
- Using critical thinking to monitor residents for behavioral or health changes and address issues via QAPI processes
- Handling call lights, assisting with ADLs (activities of daily living), and maintaining composure in crisis situations (e.g., family conflicts, inclement weather)
- Administering IV fluids (only if IV-certified)
- Maintaining CPR/AED and continuing education requirements (12+ hours annually)
- Assisting with admission discharges, falls management, infection control, and documenting resident care
- Completing additional duties as needed

Responsibilities
Actively contributes to resident care by:
- Evaluating basic and emergent nursing care needs
- Reporting residents' symptoms or declines using SBARR communication
- Reviewing and implementing doctor/nurse-driven nursing interventions
- Supporting or initiating quality improvement projects when required
- Ensuring staff adherence to Bethesda policies and best practices

Job Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school (resulting in LPN licensure), preferred with long-term care, rehab, or assisted living experience
- License: Must hold a current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Certifications:
- IV Certification (required or obtainable within 6 months)
- CPR/AED Certification (required or obtainable within 6 months)
- Skills:
- Assessment and care planning for geriatric residents
- Strong communication to interact with residents, families, and staff
- Critical thinking for timely intervention
- Excellence in time management and organization
- Pay Range: $26.96 – $43.95 per hour
