Learning Support Assistant
Location: Highbridge
Salary: £93–£100 per day (depending on experience and qualifications) Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support pupils within mainstream primary schools across Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea from September 2026.
We are looking for individuals interested in a flexible approach to work, including supply, short-term, and long-term opportunities. As an LSA with Connex Education, you’ll provide targeted classroom and pastoral support for pupils with additional needs within inclusive settings.
Connex partners with a large Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT) and multiple local schools, offering increased opportunities and choice. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, while gaining valuable experience in supportive educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students
- Help pupils access learning activities and adhere to classroom routines
- Implement supportive strategies to address:
- Communication and interaction needs
- Emotional wellbeing
- Learning difficulties
- Foster independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
- Adapt support to individual needs, including EHCP outcomes where relevant
- Provide emotional and pastoral support in line with school policies and training
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment

What We’re Looking For
- (Desirable but not essential): Experience in supporting children or young people with SEND
- (Advantageous): Background in schools, care, youth work, nursery settings, or support-based roles
- A genuine passion for working with pupils with additional needs
- Flexibility to respond effectively across different pupils, schools, and environments
- Patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS check (on Update Service preferred or willingness to complete via Connex Education)
- Mandatory: Right to work in the UK
