LSE ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university

LSE ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP)

ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow (5 posts available)

Salary is awarded at £46,933 inclusive of London allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for up to nine months or up to eighteen months part-time

The call is open to applicants who have completed their PhD at a UK research organisation.

Fellowships are aimed at those in the immediately postdoctoral stage of their career, to provide the opportunity to consolidate their PhD through developing publications, networks, research and professional skills. Applicants are required to submit a full application proposal by the ESRC advertised closing date of 1 June 2026 , 23:59. Appointments will start 1 October 2026 and end 30 June 2027.

For 2026, only one application to a single DTP is permitted. If an applicant submits to more than one DTP, all of their applications will be withdrawn. DTPs will share the names of applicants and the research organisation at which they obtained their PhD with each other. If an applicant is found to have submitted more than one application, all of their applications will be withdrawn from further consideration. In submitting your application, you are consenting to sharing that information with other DTPs. Applications data will be hosted by the University of Durham.

Reasons to use Rodeo

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

It searches the market for you

Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

For 2026, applicants need to be available between 30 June and 13 July inclusive to respond to nominations and submit proposals to ESRC. Decisions will be confirmed to all applicants by the end of August.

Candidates Should Have The Following

A PhD completed at a UK research organisation. Awarded a PhD or have passed their viva voce with minor amendments by the application deadline of 1 June 2026 and awarded their PhD by the fellowship start date of 1 October 2026. Have no more than 15 months of active postdoctoral experience. This is measured from the applicant’s viva voce pass date to the application deadline of 1 June 2026 . The ability to design a clearly defined programme of work with objectives that are achievable and realistic within the period of the fellowship and with outputs that are appropriate and attainable. The ability to plan and to share the results of the research and to engage with academic and non-academic audiences in order to develop and achieve impact. The ability to demonstrate awareness and address any ethical issues that may be raised by the proposed fellowship, by describing how these will be addressed including the impact plans and user engagement.
