SLR are looking for experienced and capable landscape planning professionals to join our growing Place team as landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA) specialists.

We have excellent opportunities across a range of seniorities and areas of interest, from renewable energy on land and sea to townscape and visual impact in urban and rural areas. If you have direct landscape planning experience in relation to various aspects of assessment and are excited by the opportunity to become a subject matter expert within an award-winning and inclusive team please do submit an application outlining your talents in the area.

The role

Depending on your level of experience and seniority, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills and expertise, contributing to a wide range of interesting projects, from mixed-use and urban re-development to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and strategic housing promotion and development.

Our approach to landscape planning includes strong emphasis on analysis and design to inform developments as part of an iterative design process, so there are also opportunities for creative input into schemes through landscape planning inputs and collaboration with the wider integrated design team of which you will play a key part.

The role will sit within the Landscape, Design and Assessment Team, who are a group of multi disciplined professionals, covering Landscape Architecture, Masterplanning/Urban Design, Landscape Planning and Architecture, all of whom are passionate about the natural and built environment. The Landscape, Design and Assessment team is a significant part of, and influence within, SLR Consulting, enabling truly integrated design across the built and natural environment sector. For example, working with our SLR colleagues in transport and mobility, ecology, engineering, hydrology and natural capital allows us together to tackle some of society’s greatest challenges.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
