Exciting Opportunity in Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”) Tax Team

We’ve got an exciting opportunity to join our client’s Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”) tax team. You will be working with corporations and private equity funds across a range of sectors, advising them on tax aspects of their M&A deals over the course of the deal lifecycle, as well as on nationally led transactions.

You will be working with some of the sector leading Partners who are well known and respected in the market. You’ll also be working within a high performing, entrepreneurial and innovative team who have advised on many high profile, market leading and transformational transactions over the past few years.

The Role

In this team, you will get wide-ranging experience in all the core areas of the deal cycle, including tax structuring, sell and buy side tax due diligence, funds flows, SPA reviews and refinancings.

Our client is currently looking to expand their Corporate M&A Tax team and are keen to speak with experienced Tax Managers and Senior Managers.

Key Responsibilities

You will contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of tax services to the client, building and maintaining tax relationships with clients to provide high levels of client service. You’ll contribute to winning new work by proactively managing existing clients and ensure technical excellence and a practical/business focused approach.

In particular, this will involve:

  • Building and maintaining both internal relationships and relationships with clients, winning work proactively and contributing to winning new clients
  • High level management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding transaction tax projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business focused approach taken
  • Overall responsibility of quality of client service
  • Manage possible leads from other areas of the practice
  • Build networks and relationships internally and externally for the team to leverage from
  • Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff
  • Contribute to people initiatives, including retaining and training transaction tax professionals
  • Significant involvement in the management of the team both in terms of strategy and operations and through managing junior staff development and assignments

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong client relationship management skills with ability to develop quality outputs to clients
  • Negotiation skills
  • Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work to new and existing clients
  • Entrepreneurial approach and interest in / knowledge of the local Midlands market
  • Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Experience of coaching and developing more junior staff
  • Ensure delivery of quality work and take day to day management of delivery team
  • Change orientated with flexible approach
  • Strong knowledge and experience within transaction/M&A tax

To Qualify for the Role You Must Have

  • ACA/ATT/CTA or international equivalent / Law qualification
  • Degree qualified
  • Experience in transaction tax
  • Strong transaction tax and/or UK and international tax technical skills
