We are looking for a Machine Demonstrator to demonstrate the capabilities and features of all machine types marketed by Volvo Construction Equipment Limited ensuring they are presented to the best advantage for both existing and future customers. You will be responsible for inspecting used equipment from all manufacturers and compiling comprehensive reports to ensure accurate valuations and support new machine sales activity. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in appraising end‑of‑lease and GBB machines against clearly defined return condition contracts, while actively engaging in UK and export sales opportunities as directed by the GB National Used Equipment Sales Manager.

What You'll Be Doing

Demonstrations

To demonstrate to best advantage the capabilities of Volvo Construction Equipment, including current as well as future acquired product lines. Liaise with the local area management in both Sales and Support areas, after approval has been given at Team Leader or GPPE RBM level, to allow for a demonstration to proceed. Ascertain, in conjunction with the local ABM, that a demonstration is essential and required, or a product familiarisation will suffice. Ascertain, with Sales Administration, machine and equipment availability dates and agree on the dates for carrying out the demonstration. Independently, or in conjunction with the ABM, ensure a risk assessment of the site has been completed, check that the machine and equipment are fit for purpose and process the appropriate paperwork to the Sales Administrator. Manage the demonstration logistics and costs with the preparing depot, and with the transport administrator. Double check the presentation quality of the unit prior to demonstration. Liaise with the Sales Administrator on sourcing the most cost effective, means of transportation to and from site. Manage the running and quality of the demonstration, to include the machine and equipment condition, reporting any defects to the Sales Administrator and issuing depot using the SAD report form. Liaise with the responsible ABM, prepare and submit the demonstration report, highlighting any results, comments, conclusions and indicating the percentage chance of a sale. This should be submitted to the RBM.

Operator Familiarisation

To organise and/or carry out Operator familiarisation as required and assist in the handover of new machines to customers. To work closely with the region to schedule the work load effectively. To be flexible in working with other Regional demonstrators in carrying out familiarisation – i.e. cross boundary deliveries. Compile and submit the signed F174 form to the Sales Administrator for further action. Actively market the Operator familiarisation services to potential end users to generate revenue income for the Region.

Used Machine Inspections

To competently carry out full appraisal and inspection of Volvo Construction Equipment and/or other equipment as requested by UED. Accurate and timely completion of all necessary reports as required by the department. Proactively communicate additional comments and information concerning appraisals in order to assist the Regional Used Equipment Managers (RUEM’s) to make accurate and commercially sound valuations. To inspect end of lease and GBB machines on completion of contract and compile reports. In addition ensure reports related to all end of term conditions are completed, appropriate actions recommended, and the client is informed and signed documentation is in place. Assist and support administration team with UED stock checking and validation at other company locations. To have sound customer focus and to continually promote and develop additional business wherever possible. To report into administration and the team leader on your whereabouts and activities on a routine basis as required. To submit on a regular basis accurate and true timesheets along with details of miles travelled and work done, ensuring that the customers’ signature and correct order number are included where possible. To maintain your vehicle together with company supplied equipment in a clean and efficient manner. To take a flexible approach to completing work; keeping in close communication with all related parties and adapting work priorities in line with the demands of the business area. To observe Company Health and Safety regulations at all times.

Other Responsibilities

Be flexible in covering between Regions for colleagues absent due to sickness or holidays. Be flexible and available with the consent of the Team Leader and Regional Management to assist other departments at major events, e.g. SED, Hillhead, Dig-Ins, Product Training Events etc. Be prepared, when required, to provide a positive input to any Operator Reference Group that may be set up by one of the Product Companies. From time to time, organise and participate in internal familiarisation courses for staff. To be flexible in all work practices. Work in accordance with the SMT GB Commercial Vehicle Policy.

What You'll Need

Skill and experience in the operation of all relevant types of Construction Equipment. The ability to provide operator familiarisation to operators in the correct and safe operating procedures for Volvo Construction Equipment products. To be in possession of valid C.I.T.B. certificates of competence for all relevant machine types. To hold a valid UK driving licence To be of smart appearance and to have the ability of communicating well at all levels. To be able, when and if requested, to represent the Company’s interests on Product Company led Operator Reference Groups.
