We're helping one of the world's most exciting, VC-backed defence technology companies hire a Machine Learning Engineers to help build the software reshaping how western forces plan and run operations.

Our client is bringing genuine AI capability to one of the world's most critical infrastructures - defence. Their command and control platform helps military forces plan and launch operations up to 4x faster, with battlefield-ready software that works even in denied communications environments.

The product is already deployed with the French Army and German Bundeswehr, and is supporting operations in Ukraine.

Having raised €31.5m to date - including a recent €20m Series A backed by exceptional investors from the tech and defence worlds - they're scaling fast in London and Paris.

THE ROLE

The Machine Learning Engineer will play a key role in shaping the company's AI trajectory. The role will involve:

  • Developing AI solutions using state-of-the-art methods to solve high-stakes problems
  • Collaborating closely with military experts along with product team to identify and capitalise on high-impact opportunities
  • Keeping the company at the forefront of innovation by exploring and applying the latest research

They are looking for candidates in either Paris or London. London employees will be required to travel to Paris to collaborate with the whole team for two days once per month. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • MSc in Machine Learning, Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in ML, including expertise in modelling, prototyping and evaluation
  • Strong software engineering skills, with a focus on velocity and collaboration
  • Pragmatic and hacker mindset along with excellent communication skills, team player

BONUS:

  • A strong inclination for engaging with military experts to build a product that truly impacts users
  • Experience in deploying production LLMs, fine-tuning, game design, reinforcement learning
  • PhD in ML, CS, or a related field, with publications in top-tier journals and conferences

WHAT'S ON OFFER

  • Base salary £100,000 - £160,000, depending on experience
  • Generous equity (0.1% - 0.3%)
  • 100% coverage of travel and accommodation expenses for cross-office collaboration
  • Minimum 3 months fully paid parental leave, plus childcare support
  • 25 days holiday, plus bonus days for company closure
  • Private medical insurance, subsidised gym membership, subsidised coaching/training
  • Fertility support, including financial support for IVF, and menstrual leave
  • Work-from-home allowance to cover office equipment
  • Company off-sites, annually

BASED IN LONDON OR PARIS. LONDON-BASED HIRES WILL TRAVEL TO PARIS MONTHLY TO COLLABORATE WITH THE WIDER TEAM (COSTS COVERED). THE INTERVIEW PROCESS TYPICALLY RUNS: INTRO CALL, CODING INTERVIEW, ONSITE IN PARIS, FINAL INTERVIEW WITH THE CEO.
