Machine Learning Engineer (AI Data Trainer)
About the Role
What if your expertise in machine learning could directly shape how the next generation of AI systems reason, plan, and solve real-world problems? We're looking for Machine Learning Engineers to work at the frontier of AI development—capturing the step-by-step reasoning and decision-making processes that teach large language models to think more reliably.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for technical minds who can break down complex logic and communicate it with precision. You won’t just observe how AI is trained—you’ll be a core part of making it smarter.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You’ll Do
- Author clear, structured reasoning traces that document how an AI should plan and execute complex technical tasks
- Map out step-by-step decision-making processes, including:
- Tool use
- Logic branching
- Problem-solving strategies
- Create high-quality training data that demonstrates reliable, grounded reasoning in real-world scenarios
- Evaluate and refine AI outputs to improve quality and consistency of model decision-making
- Work independently and asynchronously—fully on your own schedule

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
