Machine Operative
Machine Operative – Full-time, Permanent (Heckington, NG34 9JH)
About the Role
Humdinger, based in Heckington, is searching for skilled, hardworking Machine Operatives to join their vibrant team. Based on an innovative rotational shift pattern, this full-time, permanent role offers 12-hour shifts (0600–1800) covering Monday–Saturday.
Shift Pattern
- 3 on, 4 off (Monday–Wednesday or Thursday–Saturday rotations)
- Total hours per week: 36
- Pay rate: £14.69 per hour
- Breaks: 3 x 20 minutes (paid)
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain industrial roasting/frying machines (and similar equipment) to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate factory production.
- Conduct process control checks on machinery, and complete current and compliance paperwork accurately.
- Report breakdowns and anomalies to the Engineering team, coordinating repairs.
- Collaborate with quality teams and supervisors, flagging potential issues.
- Ensure factory safety, legal standards, and high production quality.
- Manual handling required, including lifting ingredients up to 25kg.
Person Specification & Requirements
✅ Essential
- Experience in an FMCG/free-from food manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with operating industrial machinery.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Some technical understanding of machinery (mechanical aptitude).

✅ Desirable
- Prior experience as a Production Operative, Line Leader, Machine Operative, or General Operative.
- Food Safety Level 2 certification (training provided by Humdinger).

- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities within a deadline-driven teams.
