Role Title: Machine Operator
Annual Salary: £29,607.60
Working Hours: Double Days. Week one 06:00 – 14:00, Week 2 14:00 – 22:00 (with a green, yellow, red period payback. Red Period – 8 hours Monday to Friday, Yellow Period – 8 hours Monday – Thursday and 6 hours on Friday, Green Period – 8 hours Monday – Thursday with Friday payback – off work.)

What will this role achieve?
We are looking for a Machine Minder who will be responsible for reporting and resolving any issues related to machinery. Must have a can-do attitude and be committed to maintaining high standards in a dynamic team. Will move lines across the factory as and when required. You will be required to stand in as a Grade 1 as and when required.
What will be your key deliverables?
- Work effectively with other team members in the department.
- Carry out all pre-start checks.
- Ensure the product meets the correct quality and specification.
- Understand equipment and machinery setup requirements.
- Complete changeovers according to procedure.
- Follow rework procedures as required.
- Track and maintain product consistency by adjusting machinery settings when needed.
- Complete all documentation to the required standard.
- Maintain factory standards safely at all times.
- Complete shift handovers in line with area requirements and the agreed agenda.
- Support the training and development of colleagues and new employees.
- Ensure the team understands the daily task plan.
- Communicate with the relevant person to resolve issues.
- Take part in discussions on process improvements, including DSOP.
- Enter production data into Autostore at the end of the day.
- Replace film rolls on the wrapping machine.
- Adjust wrapper settings to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Perform regular weight checks to ensure compliance with specifications.

Grade 1 Responsibilities
- Required to operate the Jam depositor and the main enrober.
- Understanding of product specifications.
- Ensure product is made to the correct quality and specification for start of shift and throughout.
- Understand equipment and machinery setup.
- Ensure changeovers are completed to procedure.
- Ensure any re-work procedures are followed.
- Ensure product is to the correct quality and specification, make adjustments to machinery settings to maintain product consistency.
- Ensure all documentation is filled in correctly and to the right standard.
- Always maintain everyday factory standards safely.
- Carry out metal detection checks as per procedure.
- Carry out all CP / CCP (critical control points) checks as per procedure.
- Shift handovers are completed in area and to agreed agenda.
- Train peers and new operatives in equipment use and procedures when required.
- Undertake basic problem diagnosis and maintenance and root cause analysis.
- Report any problems to the Team Manager/ ATM.
Required Experience
- Have an understanding of good manufacturing practices and safety at work procedures.
- Have an interest in Operating Machinery (mechanically minded).
- Can work well with others and be open to learning and change.
- A candidate who remains steady and solution-focused when facing setbacks.
- We’re looking for people who can work flexibly and adapt to change.
- You’ll get support to help you succeed.
Desirable Experience
- Experience operating machinery is desirable, however all training will be required.
What does the recruitment process consist of?
- Assessments: Swift Comprehensive Aptitude and a Workplace English assessment. These should take around 60 minutes to complete.
- Interview: 45-60 minute competency-based interview based on our company values and your experience.
- If you’re an internal member of staff, depending on your current job role, you may not be required to complete all of the assessments.
