Experienced Machine Operator
Howdens is looking for an experienced Machine Operator to join our team at our manufacturing site in Howden, East Yorkshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a fast-paced, high-performing manufacturing environment where safety, quality, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.
To succeed in this role, you'll have previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing setting, a strong understanding of Health & Safety practices, and a commitment to producing high-quality products to demanding standards.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience as a CNC Machine Operator in a manufacturing environment
- A strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe working practices
- Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A proactive and reliable approach to work
Salary: £43,696.64 per annum + Plus shift allowance of £2,930.18 per annum
Shift Pattern: Two-week rotating shift pattern
Week 1
- Monday to Wednesday: 5:45am – 4:15pm
- Thursday: 5:45am – 3:45pm
Week 2
- Monday to Wednesday: 4:00pm – 2:30am
- Thursday: 3:30pm – 1:30am
What you'll be doing as a Machine Operator:
- Performing machine pre-use safety checks
- Setting up the machine/process in accordance with the specific SOP
- Monitoring of the machine during production
- Producing confirmations on MES
- Performing detailed process quality checks in accordance with the area SOP
- Changing tooling and performing minor adjustments to the agreed housekeeping standards

What we're looking for:
- Previous production and/or manufacturing experience within a fast-paced factory environment
- Experience operating wood machining equipment, with CNC machinery experience preferred
- Ability to read, understand, and follow manual handling risk assessments, safe systems of work, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
The successful candidate may have experience with the following equipment:
- Board Loader
- Rip Saw
- Roller Transfer
- Combination Edge Bander
- Multi Bore Drilling
- Stackers
- Standalone Saws
- Drill Dowellers
